The heat is hanging in there but take heart – it was a mere 18 C at dawn Tuesday and daytime highs will stay in the 20s by Friday.

Tuesday’s forecast is for sunshine, a high of 32 C – Monday was 36 C – with a humidex of 36, a UV index of 9 or very high and a low of 20 C.

“After a slightly cooler morning, daytime highs in the low thirties will continue today through Thursday,” Environment Canada predicts in an updated heat warning Tuesday. “Humidex values will be in the mid to high thirties today, and near low forties for Wednesday and Thursday.”

Lows in the 20s continue to provide “little or no relief from the heat,” the agency said.

The good news is that “a cool down is expected by Friday with the passage of a cold front.”

In the meantime, Wednesday is stickier with a high of 34 C and humidex of 40 with an overnight low of 21 C.
