The nomination period for the City of Ottawa’s 2018 Municipal Elections has closed, with 15 candidates acclaimed. The nomination period began on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, and ended on Friday, July 27, 2018, at 2 pm.
The Clerk has certified all candidates in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 (“MEA”). This requires the Clerk to examine each nomination that has been filed to ensure it meets the requirements of the MEA, and, if satisfied, certifying the nomination on or before 4 pm on Monday, July 30, 2018. Only certified candidates will appear on the ballot in the upcoming municipal election.
The City Clerk has also certified 15 candidates who have been acclaimed. They are:
The list of certified candidates and candidates elected by acclamation will be listed at ottawa.ca/vote.
Voting Day is Monday, October 22, 2018. Special Advance Voting will be held in six locations from Thursday, October 4 to Friday, October 7, 2018 (Thanksgiving weekend), and Advance Voting across the city will take place on Friday, October 12, 2018.
