Costello was a 20-year police veteran and father of four; Burns joined the Fredericton Police Force in 2016 and leaves behind her husband and three children. The names of the two civilians killed have not been released, but police said at a press conference Friday afternoon that they were a man and woman. The 48-year-old suspect, who has not been identified, is in hospital and is being treated for serious injuries. Fredericton police Chief Leanne Fitch, Mayor Mike O'Brien and New Brunswick Premier Brian Gallant spoke at a news conference on the shooting this afternoon.
