The City of Ottawa Elections Office has begun to send out Voter Notification letters to eligible Ottawa electors currently on the voters’ list – providing information on where and when to vote in the upcoming municipal elections.

In the coming days, eligible electors who either did not receive a Voter Notification letter, or had wrong information on their letter, can add their name or update their information online with the “Am I on the Voters’ List?” tool on ottawa.ca/vote until September 15. They will receive an amended letter later in September.

After September 15, eligible electors who have not added their name or updated their information can download and complete the Add or Amend my Information on the Voters’ List form on ottawa.ca/vote and bring it with them to their voting place. The form will also be available at every voting place on all voting days.

To speed up the voting process, eligible electors should bring their Voter Notification letter to their voting place, along with a piece of identification that shows their name and address. Voter Notification letters cannot be used as a piece of identification.

Eligible electors who are not on the voters’ list are still entitled to vote. Electors can find their voting place online by using the “Where Do I Vote?” search tool on ottawa.ca/vote, or by calling 3-1-1 or the Elections Office at 613-580-2660.

The search tool lists where electors can vote during all voting events:

  • Voting Day is October 22, 2018 from 10 am to 8 pm
  • Advance Voting takes place on October 12, 2018 from 10 am to 8 pm.
  • Special Advance Voting will be held from October 4 to October 7, 2018 from 10 am to 8 pm

During Special Advance Voting, electors can vote at any of the following six locations, no matter which ward they live in:

  • Ben Franklin Place, 101 Centrepointe Drive;
  • Ottawa City Hall, Jean Pigott Place, 110 Laurier Avenue West;
  • François Dupuis Recreation Centre, 2263 Portobello Boulevard;
  • Greenboro Community Centre, 363 Lorry Greenberg Drive;
  • Richcraft Recreation Complex - Kanata, 4101 Innovation Drive; and
  • Minto Recreation Complex - Barrhaven, 3500 Cambrian Road.
