If you like Halloween, Elgin Street will be the place to be on Saturday October 27!

The 12th annual Trick or Treat with the Mayor will take place from 4 pm to 7 pm at Ottawa City Hall.

Drop by and visit your favourite costumed characters outdoors on Marion Dewar Plaza. See what’s brewing in the spooky Witches’ den before visiting Dorothy, the Wonderful Wizard, and all of their friends in the nearby Land of Oz. Be wowed by some amazing creatures at the outdoor meet and greet with Little Ray’s Reptiles before decorating your very own miniature pumpkin!

The fun continues inside City Hall, where you can enjoy hot chocolate and treats at the Hocus Pocus Café in Jean Pigott Place. Admission is free with a contribution to the Ottawa Food Bank’s Baby Basics Program.

This program helps parents in need by providing items in high demand, such as non-perishable baby food, formula, cereals, diapers and wipes. Chronic shortages of donations of these basic items make stocking baby supplies one of the food bank’s most expensive, but most precious priorities.

But there is more fun to be had! Come down early and check out the Decades on Elgin-Halloween Event. There will be trick or treating for kids at participating businesses between 10 am and 4 pm. All participating businesses will be identified with a pumpkin in the storefront window.

In the evening, participating bars and restaurants will offer decade-themed fun for adults, with each venue representing a decade from the 1920s to the 2000s. Businesses and restaurants participating in the event will be identified with a painted ghost in the storefront window.

Coming downtown? Take the bus or park for free at Ottawa City Hall, space permitting. And remember, many activities are outdoors. Dress for the weather!
