Now is your chance to become part of the exciting street food scene in Ottawa. The City is calling for proposals to occupy 22 available on-street food spaces in 2019.
There are 11 cart spaces and 11 truck spaces available. send an email to bio1stop@ottawa.ca for a list.
Working a food truck or food cart is a great way to get your start in the competitive and exciting world of running a restaurant. You can fine tune your menu, and your skills, and see first-hand how customers react to your product. Many restaurant owners use a street food business as a stepping stone to owning their own restaurant, and some restaurant owners also run food trucks.
To be selected for a street food space, a volunteer panel, made up of representatives from the food and hospitality industry and from Ottawa Public Health, will evaluate proposals. Applicants are encouraged to incorporate innovation and diversity in their menu offerings. Successful applicants will be chosen on the basis of the following criteria:
The deadline to apply for a space is Friday, January 4, 2019 at 4:30 pm. Successful applicants will be offered spaces in early 2019, with their operations expected to roll out in May 2019.

- business plan
- level of vendor experience
- overall contribution to Ottawa’s food scene
