This year marks the 34th year that the help Santa Toy Parade?rolls through the streets of downtown Ottawa.
Every year, the Fire Fighters' Association collects toys along the parade route to give to less fortunate kids in our city.
The parade has evolved into a significant event drawing tens-of-thousands of people who line the Parade route and share their generosity. Participants are entertained by the sights and sounds of floats, bands and clowns produced locally and from around the Province.
There is an important change to take note of this year, only new toys will be accepted along the route. The donation of used toys was stopped because so many they received were unusable.
Just bring your new unwrapped toy with you to the parade on Saturday, or if you cannot make it, drop your toys off at any Ottawa firehouse between November 18th and December 20th.
Used toys can be dropped off at the Salvation Army Toy Depot at the Lees Ave location.
Here is the parade route:
It starts at 11 a.m. at City Hall (Elgin and Laurier). The floats then head West on Laurier Street, turn South on Bank Street, and finish up at Landsdowne Park.
CHUM Ottawa is proud to be taking part. If you cannot make it to the parade, you can watch it on our sister TV Station, The New RO. Coverage starts at 11.
