Applications for the 2023 #ottmusic programs are now open!
Are you a musician based here in Ottawa? Want your original music to be heard by residents all year long? Applications are now open for any local musicians who want their music featured in this year’s #ottmusic 2023 programs: Music on Hold, City Sounds and O-Buskers!
The Music on Hold program plays select local music to callers of the City of Ottawa’s phone system (3-1-1) while they are on hold. This year, up to 35 songs will be selected by a committee of musicians and industry professionals. A full playlist is available each year on ottawa.ca/ottmusic for those who want to listen uninterrupted.
City Sounds is a streamable playlist created annually to shine a spotlight on local talent. This annual playlist is updated every autumn. You can listen to the 2022 City Sounds playlist now by visiting ottawa.ca/ottmusic.
New this year!
O-Buskers is a new initiative aimed at animating O-Train Line 1 stations. Local musicians can apply to play at most of these stations, and if approved by a selection committee, buskers will be able to sign up for performance times and stations through an online scheduling tool.
March is Francophonie Month in Ottawa - if you know a local Francophone musician or group, encourage them to submit their work to help us celebrate the local Francophone music scene.
Applications for all the #ottmusic programs are open until Thursday, April 6. To be eligible, applicants must be 18 years or older and Ottawa artists. You can learn more about how to apply by visiting ottawa.ca/ottmusic.
For more information on City programs and services, visit ottawa.ca, call 3-1-1 (TTY: 613-580-2401) or 613-580-2400 to contact the City using Canada Video Relay Service. You can also connect with us through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
