[请求] A problem on my ADSL connection

Hi GAO(1)SHOU(3), I lost my internet (ADSL) connection since yesterday. After I tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew (These two commands usually work when I lost my connection before), I cannot get the correct IP address. I called the customer service and I was told everything is OK from their side. What shoudl I do? Thanks in advance!
 
get a router and see if the router can pick up an ip.. if not, get them to mail u a new modem
 
Thanks, I use win200 and I have only one computer. All the lights in the Modem indicate it's OK. Is there any other possible causes beside the Modem.
 
ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew这个也不是用在ADSL连接的。把ADSL modem断电,1分钟之后再上电,然后看你的拨号程序是否正常。
 
When turn off the ADSL modem, on lower right corner of the monitor screen it shows "network connection unpluged", and then turn on ADSL modem, it shows something like "network connection plugged". And after waiting all the lights OK on the modem, I got the same problem. What do you mean 拨号程序? Thanks
 
Is your ADSL come from Bell (sympatico)?

They (most the ADSL I know of) use "pppoe" which need a special program to "dial" (even though it's ethernet),
otherwise, you won't get connect.
 
So you mean the "dial" program in my computer may get some problem? But I didn't notice there is any button I can "dial" or config it.

安装盘有拨号软件,我以前用每次上网都要拨号。
 
I am using Telus (not Bell, I am not in Ottawa now). I tried to reinstall the program with the installation CD yesterday evening, but it even cannot connect to the server. Callled the customer service again, what they can tell me is that everything is OK from their side and I am not logon. They suggested me to reinstall tcp/ip, but I even cannot remove the current one. They also suggested me to scan virus, but I am using the latest MacAfee and Zone Alarm. The Ip I got from ipconfig /renew is starting with 192.***.***.***. They told me it means I are using router, but I only have one computer. When I issue the ipconfig /renew, I can tell that the command is sent out by the ZoneAlarm Alert and the blinking lights on the Modem. How I can get an IP with the router? By the way, ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew are the commands I was asked to do each time when I called.

Is it possible there are something wroing with the phoneline outside my home? Any suggestions? I have used Telus ADSL for almost half a year, everything have been OK before.
 
If you suspect a problem with the phone line, you can verify the status light on the modem itself. Or you may want to bypass the filter connecting a phone set to the jack directly, to see if you can hear hi-pitch noise.

I am not sure if there is any change on your PC before it got disconnected. But make sure your modem get the right signal before you do any high level troubleshooting like ipconfig or the dialup software.

BTW, it seems Telus's CSR just doesn't know their job. What a b***s***.
