Ask Security Guru: how to see the key or passwd shown as "******"

I got the WEP key from the technical support and I need to use the same key for my linux OS to get on the same 802.11b network, but linux OS is not supported so I'd like to find a way to grab those keys without asking for support.

They typed the keys so fast that I could not remember what they are.
But they are shown in my Windows XP box as "****************", my question is how to see those keys as real Hex numbers.

Any clue?

Maybe the simplest way is to cheat the technical support by installing a key logger?

I only know that when you use flashget to download something from a site with id and pd, you could find a file in the directory of flashget which stored the original id and pd showed in ****. Maybe you could also find such file in windowsxp.
