That is really exciting. Hopefully it could happen in China sometime in the future.
Can you imagin how China's present leaders would perform in such a situation?
Leaders should be excellent guys...

中国现在不能实行民主,否则会天下大乱

大国小国都使用"德猫可热西",为何独我国会大乱?

Why 会天下大乱? Can you give more detail?
I think 实行民主 for us is just to have people have more choices to choose their governer. Do you think when you have right to choose a leader will lead to 天下大乱 instead of getting a better and smarter guy?

Don't forget 30 years ago when we talked about market economy, most people said that would have people no food, that will have people live in dark old time. But look what happens? In fact, that makes people have much more choices on food and clothes. So... why don't try 民主. We, Chinese in mainland China, never even try it!

I was actually quite disturbed by the debate: none of the leaders showed any respect for others.

已经非常非常有礼貌了,否则就不叫debate了。

I think they are 有礼貌 enough. I think actually it is just like in a soccer competition, although you should 有礼貌 but you have to knock at your competitor and goal him. So in the debate, your 礼貌 is to challenge by words.

If you think they are not polite, just wait for a couple of months for the debate between Kerry and Bush.

Oh you thought they were polite to each other? Martin stared straight at the camera instead of his opponents; Layton kept interrupting other's speech; Harper used an extremely intimidating tone when he challenged Martin regarding some issues; Duceppe, ah nobody cared about what he wanted to say in an English debate.

Unlike Canada, US presidential debate is actually not a debate, they don't talk to each other, but to the moderator. I've watched all 3 presidential debates between Bush and Gore 4 years ago, I'd much prefer that format: for one thing, I can actually hear their agenda.

I was very impressed with Gilles Duceppe during the French debate. Aside from his separatist political agenda, he obviously took Quebecois interest at heart.

Kudos for a politician who fights for his people!

Yes. I admire what he did. That is what a true leader shoudl do for his supporters.

Pray for China. I feel that day will come to China not too far...

I quite agree with you opinion

i think debates on politic issues have no need to be polite.i think arguments are nessary.you can see meetings in china are 胜利的。if anyone think this is polite ,i have no word.
