Hi,

My PC, which I bought last year with AMD 2500+ CPU, shut down by itself sometimes, at that time the green light is still on but I cannot reboot unless I unplug the power.

There is a warning lasted more than half when every time the PC is booting."Hardware monitor found an Error..." when I check the BIOS, get these values(shortly after pc shutdown)

MB 44C
CPU 61C
Fan 2901 rpm

3.3v 3.24
5v 4.73
12v 12.35

I have two HDs and one CD-Writer on it.

Is it possible the CPU too hot or the power supply cannot handle these components?

Thanks!

Mike

机箱里的灰尘是不是该清一下?尤其是风扇上的

有可能电源不行了

Thanks!

I cleaned it yesterday and it works well so far.
I checked it psu is only 300W. Is it enough for the configuration? I'm thinking to buy a 400W.

Mike

tell me about your configuration

Now it happens frequently, I have to wait for a while after it shuts down automatically, otherwise I cannot power on the PC (there is nothing happens when turn it on).

The configuration:
Power supply: 300W
ASUS A7V8x-x mb
AMD 2500 +
512MB RAM
128MB 8x AGP
40G HDD
80G HDD
1 CD-writer
1 IEEE 1394 Card

It seems Vcore voltage is not in normal range:

vcore 1.68 v
+5v 4.784 v

I checked the price of power supply, why it is more expensive than the case with power supply?

Does the case come with a cheaper ps?

if you bought a 50 bucks case, most likely u get a 20 bucks PS, which means out of 300W margin u're gonna get tops 225W of real power supply, + power flutuations and so on...
good PS may cost up to 200 bucks. Again it depends on what's really inside.... those "tors" ie inductors capacitors transistors.... aren't cheap when they're good quality.
i had an old PS that wouldn't boot up the machine. turned out part that provides the power-good voltage is almost blown up..
suggest stronly that u try another PS. i'm pretty sure.

after I ordered a barebone kit from tigerdirect, I powered on the pc with problem, suddenly I found the fan in the power supply didn't work, so the temperature of PS increases fast, finally it shut down by itself, and would not restart in short time.

Though I cleaned the fan before, it seems it is still not enough, anyone knows if we can open the power supply to clean the fan?

TIA

yup
just open ur power supply case, throw out that damn fan
get a new fan install it (they're all the same fans... just get one of the same size), do the wiring...
and dat's it
very simple, done it before
