西洋参在加拿大的收获季节是秋冬时期。西洋参的保存是有讲究的,农场主经常把西洋参做成茶粉、胶囊、滴剂等,一个原因就是为了便于长期保存和随时使用,另一个原因是去处多余部分、提高效用。 出于消费习惯,不少人喜欢原始的西洋参根,要注意所谓年头越长越好是指的生长时间,而出土之后应该尽快服用,因为“参娃”很依赖土壤,挖出来外皮就开始丧失保护功能,容易受潮霉变、虫蛀、萎缩变色等。 话说回来,西洋参的生长时间也不必过于追求,一般三到五年的西洋参就可以,所谓五年以上的老参、野生山参,营养成分其实差别不大,却物稀而贵。 还有,体寒怕冷的人就不要送西洋参了。

I always go to 怡昌堂 (address: 685 Somerset West, Bronson & Somerset) to buy ginseng. The owner is very nice and they sell real Canadian Gingseng. The price is very competitive with the stores in Toronto given the same quality of ginseng. You can trust them. Honest businessman. The other one beside So Good is not so good. I avoid to buy Ginseng from that store. P.S. I always put a couple ginseng into chicken soup for the whole family to drink. It is a good Chinese herb. The ginseng bought at 怡昌堂 tastes very good and is comparable with those I bought from Toronto Chinese herbal stores.
