请问学生能要SIN社会保险号吗？

有个同学和我说留学生要有工作才能申请。而我房东大哥说他申请就不用..........不过他是新移民～ 有区别吗？

Not necessary, you can apply SIN if you stay in Canada for a prolonged period of time ( ie. 6 month )

But the SIN will have different settings, if International students will have the number started with 9, so people will number started with 9 cannot work.

just a little clarification:
people will number started with 9 cannot work OUTSIDE campus.

true, but a little more clarification:

even your SIN is 9, but that doesn't mean you can only still work inside the campus. If you are international student and sucessfully applied working authorization, you are still using your 9 SIN but you are working in a company
