我当时的回答是，去纽约，玩儿，圣诞节，没想好，自己开车...

One of the key issues is that you should prove that you will leave USA after visiting. There is a item in USA immigration law which assumes that you will not leave USA after visiting. Therefore, you should show evidence that you will not stay in USA after visiting.
