It happened to me before. I was driving my friend's car and got into an accident. My friend's insuance company paid for the damage. I have full coverage with my insurance, so I called my insuance company but they told me that it had to be the owner's insurance company who had the right to pay.

Correct. The insurance company of the car owner should pay for that, and the increase on the premium should incur on the owner not the driver. Of course, if the driver gets ticket because of the accident, he/she will get increased premium too when renewing.

Sounds like u are an insurnce broker, you are telling me my broker is wrong? If so, how? Prove it.
