Win XP activation[问题]

try to upgrade my OS to new WinXP professional for two PCs at home, desktop and laptop (only have the extra pocket for one copy at this moment). My question is if i buy it from store can i install it to both machines and make the activation separately. i got router of high-speed internet connection to both PCs too. otherwise, how to deal with this issue for 2nd PC. another question is how to re-activate the system when i try to reinstall the winxp later. Might sounds pretty silly, but help is appreciated for a beginner.

thanks, but the box was always pop out after installation for reminding the 30 days left for activation. what's that mean? just ignore it?

great!! can it works to my 2nd, or even 3rd PCs. i mean to copy this file from one PC to other one under the same path.

我第一次买正版Professional的时候，好象可以激活5次，具体记不大清楚。直到有一次重新安装，激活的时候，它就说”激活次数已经满“，只好把以前的image用Ghost恢复。那个版本我装了有3台机器，所以次数肯定大于3次

第二次买的时候，是带SP2的，第二次装就已经不让激活，还好我有第一次的image。但是只能在一台机器上用

无论正版盗版，你都打电话激活，没问题的。用4-in-1那个算号器算个好，然后电话激活。我给别人装机每次都是这样做的。

yes, i am talking about the WinXp Pro SP2. no problem for the first time to activate the first installation, but didn't pass the activation process after it was installed in the 2nd PC. and i even thought about to install it into laptop, the 3rd PC.

我觉得已经不大可行

原来带SP2的果然是只装一次,我不打电话问微软的原因是,(1)如果我说装第二台机器,不知道他们认不认为是违法的.(2)如果装第一台机器,我已经有image,没有必要找他们.用image恢复只要5分钟,装一遍起码要30分钟.

还有,我记得打电话的时候,他们肯定问你那一大串installation key. 不知道从这个key,他们能分辨出是不同的机器吗?

或者能不能说,我先装台式机,但是现在换机器,比如换成laptop,微软能答应吗? 有没有人试过?

我的机器都装好拉,我以为还能再装三台,所以准备给朋友的机器也装上的,不行也就算拉.
