Can CompactFlash be used as portable small computer storage?

I want to use my digital camera compactflash to transfer data between my home computer and another computer.I want copy some files to compactflash and then put it to another. Both computer have USB port. Is the data transfer using compactflash possible? I knew some MP3 player can handle this task.
