准备带两岁半的儿子去Algonquin Provincial Park
Camping。

I cannot imagine a kid only 2 y/o sleeping in a tent at night...we went there in July last year it was freezing at night, couldn't fall asleep.
If it is the first time for you, suggest go somewhere closer to the city. Algonquin is way too wild for newbies and kids.

Leave phone number. I can tell you more detail.

Hello,

We just came back from a 2-day camping from Gatineau park with our 22-mth-old daughter. She loved it! I think it's not too young for your kid to go camping, in fact, it's quite a learning experience for him! But, like others suggested, I recommend that you pick somewhere not too far as a start, and just camp for a night or two to try out like we did.

Not everyone is a born camper, be prepared to entertain your kid because there's not much left out there by dusk. We brought her some toys, balls and bike for her, as well as some beach gears (swim suit, sandbox tools...) . Also make sure you bring him a nice pair of sneakers for hiking (sandals not recommended as trails are usually rough).

Most importantly, bring enough warm clothings as temperature fluctuates a great deal especially in the woods. With weather like this, you are looking at about 10degrees or lower at night time!

Last but not the least, have fun with the kid, let him explore at his will and roam around, as long as he is within your watching distance and obeys the rules...

Good luck!

You should buy a tent of at least 4 persons. the number of persons labelled on the tent is the maximum but normally feel too tight. with a young boy, a tent of 4 persons could have a little room for small bags and clothes on side of the air bed. if you love camping and expect a couple of more children coming, a tent of 5 or 6 persons would be better for future.

Woods and Coleman are the most common manufacturers here, and Canadian Tire has at least one tent on sale every week changing from week to week. you can save 40 to 50%. check their flyers thursday or Friday. Six side tents are better than 4 side squared tent because the formers have one more rod so the tent is more stable. check the waterroof feature which is most important of a tent.

Sleeping bags: check the temperature that the sleeping bag is designed for. there are 8, 4, 0, -5 degree etc. If you only plan to go camping in summer, 8 or 4 degree ones are good enough. Better choices are those with a filer cover bag rather than a plastic cover which is easy to be broken.

A air bed can make your camping as comfortable as at home, but it's heavy and need inflating tool, bumped by battery or manual, automatic inflated air bed is too small and too expensive for car camping, they are very light, designed for portage canoeing camping and hikers.

You need to buy a small ax and at least a flash light. the ax can be used both to set up the tent and to chop the fire wood. you need a plastic table cover and some ropes. Bring good food otherwise you will be starving at the park. Don't forget a stove and matches or a lighter. Canoeing, picnic, siting near a wood fire and listening to wolves or loons in night are among the best experience.

Good luck!

多谢楼上几位的建议,非常有帮助,看来我把这件事儿想得过于简单了。
重新考虑中。。。

Camping gears can be found at following places:

1) Mountain Equipment Co-op: www.mec.ca
2) Bushtukah: www.bushtukah.com
3) Trailhead: www.trailhead.ca
4) Le Baron: www.lebaron.ca

1, 2 and 3 are close to each other (near Westboro Loblaws). Mountain Equipment Co-op is a member only store. You pay $5 for permanent membership. Le Baron is a specialty outdoor store in Bell's Corner.

For camping after mid August and before mid September, you should expect night time temperature at around 5 degrees. A sleeping bag rated at 0 or lower temperature is necessary. Always bring a fleece blanket just in case.

For tents, you should get a "foot print" for your tent to separate the bottom from the ground. If your tent doesn't have a foot print, you can get small tarp instead. For 4 people, don't buy a 4 people tent because it'll just fit exactly 4 people. You should get a larger tent for your comfort. Eureka is the tent of my choice.

As previous post says, illumination is important for camping. Always bring at least two pieces of flashlight and back-up batteries. A propane lantern (or new battery lantern) is needed for night time activities.

Bring some ropes and big tarps to setup a shelter for your dining area and tents. It's useful if it rains.

Finally, check the area before setting up your tents. Make sure you clean up the tent site. Also check your camp site for any protential danger since you're bringing a kid with you. There may be some wild animals at night in Algonquin Park, so make sure your food is safe or they'll be all gone or ruined at night.

Btw, don't forget to clean up the site before leaving.
