In 2002,CIC impose a secrete mini-moratorium on the processing of parental sponsorship applications. The case processing was therefore totally stopped on Jun.23, 2003. In the past two years, the CIC kept posting the misleading (fake)information on their website andcontinued to accept new applications and collect the fees. The result, 110,000 backlogs was created. Hundreds of thousands Canadians and immigrants families are suffering the unbearable separation with theirmost important family member (parents and grandparents) for at least 5 to 10 years fromcountry to country. The Minister ofImmigration and Citizenship kept deny the situation until the nation wide demonstrations and petitions unveiled the secretemini-moratoriumpublicly. On April 18, 2005, the Minister had to acknowledge the backlogs and said that he will solve this problem.
