I made this new one, becasue so many things happened and said in the election since it was called. I am sure lots of them impacted locally for the visitor of CFC. After you vote, please indicate if you have changed in the voting direction since Nov/05. Thanks!

The old one from November is here. http://www.comefromchina.com/newbbs/showthread.php?s=&forumid=3&threadid=430263

The standing was here:
Liberal 92 49.46%
Conservative 51 27.42%
NDP 24 12.90%
Bloc 3 1.61%
Green or other5 2.69%
Not gonna vote 2 1.08%
Can not vote yet 9 4.84%

On Jan 23, please vote!!

I changed a bit. I likely will vote conservative because of the crime bills that are promised and the high likehood of a PC minority gov, which will make them not do stupid thing out right.

Paul Martine has to go for some new blood in Liberal. Libral will eventually come back!

You know what I would like... we have an internal debate on CFC. But on Jan 23 does not matter what happen to our debate, for our own long term goal of influencing federal party, we all commited to voting for one candidate of choice at the end. Then... then all the party will take our need seriously!!

This "block voting" is what Jewish people often do in US. They are small % in population, but command large influence.

In a democracy, the majority always wins. The monority always lose. This is how democracy works. The only thing that protects monority rights is the Charter of Rights. The Charter was put into place to protect individual rights in case of in-justice to individuals due to the majority rule. Protection of the Charter is very important.

Harper has indicated many times that when he is faced with controversial issues such as Gay rights and "women's right to choose"(abortion), he would resort to free votes in parliament. This is irresponsible. What happens when free votes are used to deal with these unusaul issues? The minority loses in such free votes. It's not justice when the majority takes away individual rights from the minority.

History has shown many times that in a democracy, the monority suffers in-justice. For example, during the second world war, the Canadian government took innocent Japanese Canadians from their homes and put them in concentration camps, just because the country of Japan was Canada's enemy at the time. There are also historical examples that the Chinese people were treated badly in the past. These in-justice took place in this democracy, before the Charter of Rights were put in place.

Vote for Martin. He believes in the Charter of Rights.

It's better to say: He says he believes in the Charter of Rights. He also says the Liberal is not corrupted. :D

Yeah, and Harper's party members have said publicly that new immigrants took away jobs from Canadians. The conservative has toned down a lot in the last few years to try to win votes, but do u believe they have really changed?

I don't believe they changed their mind about immigrants, but I believe they have realized immigrants are such an important part of society that they can't risk losing the vote in this group.

Parliament Members are elected. Supreme Court Judges are appointed. When Paul Martin said "the first thing we are going to do is to remove the nonwithstanding clause", he is telling people that people won't have the final say. The Judges that he appoints will have the final say. That's the way I see it, and I don't believe he is worth my vote.

Harper's free vote may have scared you. But I think removing the nonwithstanding clause is far more scary.

If conservative win and become another minority goverment, I think is better than help them become majority goverment because their policy is kind of dangerious for Canada ( their missile defence plan will led to more terrisim attack for Canada).

So I will vote for Liberal just to prevent Conservative become Majority goverment, but Canada really need some change now.

Judges in courts of law are less likely to play politics or to be influenced by voters than politicians, and consequently, are more likely to be more just than politicians. The Notwithstanding clause in the constitution defeats the purpose of the Charter of Rights, because politicians, who have the tendency to appease loby groups, can override individual rights protected by the Charter. The notwithstanding clause should have long been abolished.

Secondly, the current Conservative (former Reform Party) is very likely to be right ring extremists. The Liberal is still more middle of the road.

The Liberal has done a lot of things to the country in the last decade. Yes, there has been a big scandal, but the government has shown honest efforts to try to clean up its act. I am willing to forgive the party and let it move on with governing. I hope the Liberal party wins.
