L'OREE DU BOIS
15 Chkingsmere, Chelsea 819-827 0332

So far I think it is the best French food in Ottawa area. It is in a very charming stone house in the wood. Traditional french food. You need to book the table ahead. Take you time in the afternoon, have a cup of tea or coffee in Chelsea, then go for your romantic dinner, it wouldn't disappoint you.

Also Wakefield is a good place to go. Reestaurants there is OK, but the scenery is beautiful, facing to the lake(river). In the summer and fall, you also can take a steam train there from Hull. They have sunset dinner provide on the train. And you can rent a carriage and have a party or wedding there, cost about $2000-3000, not including food.

They are all not far from Ottawa.

Wow...It's must be quite stressful to sit in the fancy european style restaurant, especially not knowning very well what their menu is or what the best food/drink combination. For sure the meal is very expensive and the waiters/waitresses expect big tip and disperse "nice" attitude to ordinary consumers also. Have left homeland for five years and never felt at ease in non-chinese, non-mexican or non-asian dinning places. It's a matter of culture difference, taste and spending philosophy. A lot of people have false impression that chinese is cheap. Actually, it's not cheap. It's a wisdom.

Too much nonsense, back to the topic. I personally feel the TIAN RUN restaurant close to Bank and Walkley is nice. I like the girl who waited us. Kind of true blue and does not have the ILL discriminatory idea when facing Chinese and local customers at the same time. The food is so so but that does not really matter too much. The atmosphere inside is good. The paintings between narrow windows are very comfortable chinese stuff. I like Chinese restaurants with waiters/waitresses hired who have good self-esteem toward Chinese identity and are equally respectful to both Chinese and local people.

In ottawa, Buffet restaurants have good price(still significantly more expensive than a lot of places in US though) Plus it's too noisy and too many people around. Also, food in buffet restaurants is V-E-R-Y salty and the post-dinning experience/feeling is not that great.

If the dinner is planned for Valentine's Day, the best shot probably is to go buy some little candles and good CDs and prepare the meal at home. It's absolutely true and stress-free. When we get really rich, there will be a lot of business opportunities to try the authentic western style food with clients or colleagues, which might be a more appropriate setting and serve all purposes well.

The restaurant is located in a beautiful, old Tudor home (circa 1877) in Ottawa's exclusive Sand Hill area and first opened its doors in April of 2001. Each dish is prepared using the freshest local ingredients available. Reservations are strongly suggested.

Eighteen

Serving terrific Asian-French fusion cuisine, this stylish eatery is popular with local sophisticates, who adore the contemporary decor, the professional, smartly clad waitstaff, and cozy fireside sitting area. The menu items themselves are quite artsy and colorful as well, with the more popular entrees including the likes of roast duck with smoked cheese ravioli, tandoori-spiced butter chicken, and jumbo tiger prawns. Eighteen's wine bar stays open late, giving patrons the chance to sample their fine Chardonnays and Cabernets well into the night. Dinner reservations are suggested.

Le Panaché
201 Eddy St, Hull, QC K1R 5K4 ・ 819-777-7771

You'll think you just stepped into your favorite Parisian eatery when you visit this fabulous restaurant, located on Eddy Street. Indeed, the ambiance couldn't be more French, and the cozy, candlelit tables are ideal for those desiring a bit of privacy. Be sure to check out the extensive wine list, whose international flavor ensures something to everybody's liking. In the warmer months, patrons can dine cafe-style on Panache's intimate patio dining area. Reservations are suggested.

Le Tartuffe

If you find yourself on the other side of the Ottawa River after dark, Le Tartuffe is a terrific place to enjoy fine Québecois cuisine. Indeed, their terrific table'hôte menu features a variety of regional delights that combine the best ingredients from Québec with best French preparation techniques. The rack of lamb is a signature entree at this superb restaurant, and a taste of their raspberry or blueberry crème brûlée alone is worth the trip to Hull. Reservations are suggested.

Michel Reymond
222 Laval St, Hull, QC J8X 3J7 ・ 819-777-8883

This quaint restaurant offers an innovative French menu that belies the place's rather vanilla exterior. Indeed, here, the emphasis is on the food, and Michel Reymond ensures a terrific dining experience by using only the freshest local herbs, produce, and meats available. An extensive wine list is on hand, as well. Of course, at such restaurants, it's always wise to save room for dessert, and Michel Reymond is no exception. Their bitter chocolate mousse with crème Anglaise is nothing short of divine. Reservations are suggested.

Social
537 Sussex Dr, ByWard Market, Ottawa, ON K1N 6Z6 ・ 613-789-7355

A must for those who enjoy new and innovative dishes, this contemporary eatery offers a superb hybrid of French and Mediterranean fare. The sleek dining area is reminiscent of the trendiest Parisian haunts, and the live fusion jazz and beautiful waitstaff only add to the atmosphere. Chef Mitton's fabulous menu features minestrone with fresh shellfish, mussels and clams; roast chicken gumbo with Cajun-seasoned vegetables; chilli-marinated calamari; and twice cooked confit of duck with fresh seasonal vegetables. In the warmer months, patio dining is available. Reservations are suggested.
