Actually you can exchange your week from Mexico to Other place such as Europe, Australia etc. The Sunset group will help you make it. Very simple.
If you don't like those Sunset places for your exchange, you can also make exchange with those resort in RCI (A very famous timeshare organization, its resort spread the whole world).
BTW, you can also rent your timeshare week out, if you don't want to use it. Currently the rent list price of one-bedroom in RCI is $1,299 USD/week.
No matter what I tell you, I guess you have to have some experience by yourself, then you will love it.
