I would like to get some advice about my employment situation. I have been working for a small company for over a year. Recently my employer has financial difficulties and has trouble receiving investment funding for his company. This means that he is unable to pay our salaries starting from the beginning of February. He proposed his employees including me to work for him for the next two months without being paid, promising that he would reimburse our salaries after that time period. He also mentioned that the company will have a very good chance of receiving funding.

Now, the problem is that he is not willing to lay me off, thereby preventing me for applying for employment insurance. I believe, he is not playing by the rules, and this may affect my eligibility of receiving employment insurance benefits.

Thanks for your advice.

I am not sure this is correct:

the best way is:

find out from HRSDC or Service Canada now.

or ask you company to apply work sharing agreement:

get reduced salaries and EI at the same time.

I really like to know the name of the company. Is that the *fantasitic* *fabless* (fruitless might be a more appropriate word, :D) firm on Woodward Drive, which generated tons of garbage documents over the past 5 years without doing any real work other than selling crap and lies to the idots in the investment firms? If that is the case, BINGO, you might do as well in any of the lottery games. Reason being? you are working for the *BEST* employer in this country, LOL.
