请 有 经 验 朋 友 推 荐 在 Kanata 的 private home care & public day care!!

Can you share your finding too? I'm looking for this info as well.

First, you need to put your child onto Ottawa's new centralized waiting list! (I still need to do this one! :blowzy: ) I am not sure where to pick this up, but I have the electronic version in word file, let me know if anyone needs it, and plz. provide email address.

My family visitor provided me with a very long check list, to evaluate the day care. It's a long process, basically for the ones you're interested in, go check it out, follow the list -- the list is really long and detailed! Because this is taking too much time, that's why I want to hear people's referrals and recommendations!

Right now I have my baby on several major waiting list in Kanata big day care center, (it's $$costy$$), mostly all on my way to work, since Kanata is real big, you should select according to your own situation.

I also found a couple of private home care, if you need more information regarding finding home care, there are many agencies provide this type of services - the ones the find for you will be all licensed!

Anyhow, all these information were provided to me by the family visitor, if you have one, ask her for these info! :)

It is now my major problem to find a home daycare. What I regret most is I didn't register my baby to any waiting list until she turned into 1 a few weeks ago. I think considering the huge waiting list, it is impossilbe for me to send her to a daycare before she is 2.5 year old. I was told today that the central waiting list has not fully been developed to be accessed by daycare center. I began to worry about that. Also, Victoria, you mentioned you have registered your baby on several major waiting list. I even didn't know there are any other waiting lists other than the private one kept by the daycare center. could you share the list with me? Do you have the e-copy of check list? Can you email me if you have? Thank you!

Hi Gimme,

I just call up the public day care and put my daughtor's name on their waiting list. Basically, the waiting time is about 1 and 1/2 year long, that's why the family visitor said we should do this as soon as our baby's born, or even earlier..haha!! I have her on The Children's Place, Bridlewood Children Learning Center(?), Kanata Childcare Center. That's it so far, I'm gonna call a few more. I am late too!! :(

Most places say they don't accept until your baby's 18 month, but it's not necessarily true, just ask them anyway, some place do reserve a few spots for young baby, you just have to pay more! So far it's about $50-60/day. :o

Sorry I don't have the homecare evaluation cheklist in electronic version, it is 5 pages long, huge list! I do have another list of Kanata's Home Child Care Agencies and all the Licesed Day Care Center. This one is 16 pages long. I'll ask if my family vistor has the e-copy, ok.

How old is your daughter? The best way is to find a home-in nanny nearby, but it is not easy. I contacted a home care agency today, the two providers recommended are all from mid-east with strong accent. It is not good for a baby in the age of learning language. Have you investigated some home daycare center? How do you feel of the quality and credibility?

Kanata child care, that one sounds familiar to me, is this the one on Castlefrank? I remember I called once, the lady picked up the phone said they don't keep private waiting list:(

Wish you good luck! Same as you, I also trust the word-of-mouth.

Oh, Victoria, forget one thing. Why do you think Montessori is good? I visited the center last month. The facility is good and tidy, but in toddler program, baby is not allowed to have milk during the day because of the fear of milk allegy. (A few drops on the skin may cause rash) It is understandable, but in this age group, banning milk during the day is too harsh. Moreover, one of the parents need to sacrifice two weeks time to accompany the baby in order to let her go through the most emotionally difficult first two weeks. But parents pay as high as $1390/month, I though these problems should be solved by center. Otherwise, Montessori is fine.

I'd added my son to 2 waiting lists couple months ago, but I wonder if they really keep the list coz they don't require a registration fee, and I can imagine everyone will add the name to it, and there must be thousands of names on them.

How much does the home daycare cost in Kanata? I have friends who live in Riverside south where the home daycare is very limited so it ranges from $50-$80 a day.

You're quite welcome! It is stressful, but we're all in this together! :) Hope we'll all find solutions soon, hehe...

My daughtor is 7 month now!

Yes, that is the one on castlefrank, hee...it's funny you mention about mid-east accent issue, I do remember some things about odcour and accent too, hehe...let's not get into it!

Go for Chinese home care, helping out our own... :D Private care should be around $35/day

Montessori's waiting lis, you'll have to pay one month fee in order to get on it...they want pepl to take it seriously. This school is 5 minutes from my home, plus I read lots of good things about it from here, that's why I'm considering, but like I said, it is beside the giant power lines, this is the down side... :(

Plz view for Montessori stuff

Where 'bout do you live in Kanata? I only pay attention to Bridlewood or Emerald Meadow area so far. You know the "Zhong Hua Dao Bao" has quite a few day care advertisements in these 2 areas. "Sundayfree" is also offering home care service here.

I'm in Kanata Lakes. I don't need "immediate" daycare yet coz I have relative to look after my son for the time being when I go back to work in Jul, but I guess I should be prepared for backup as well as future needs.

How old is your son? I go back to work in July too, I guess our babies are around the same age... :)

It's good you have relatives to care for him, do get onto the waiting list, since it'll take a year or two to get in.

He is 4.5 months now. I share the leave with my husband so I will go back to work earlier.

Hi, Victoria. I really appreciate you posted those two links obout Montessori. I am surprised to see there are so many Montessori in Ottawa. The one I visited is located in Bridlewood. I noticed there is one in Teron. Have you heard anything positive of that one?

By the way, your little one is only 7 month. You are right on the track.:) My daughter is almost 13 month now. I am too too late:( I will back to work within 1 month.
