it is necessary to check inside of your NB
In this case, you need to open the case to take a look at its HW.
There are below possible reasons in your case:
1. USB slot damaged---re-solder it
2. USB power rail damaged---jump wire to fix it
3. CMOS USB settings disabled---enable it in CMOS
4. South Bridge issue---SB issue, need to be replaced
Is there only one USB slot which can't work properly or all of them?
You can check EXPRESS CARD or Blue Dog or any other USB interface device to see if all of them are gone. If yes, you have a seirous problem with SB related HW.

ur thing should still under warrenty, it is less than a year. contact vendor.

under this case, usually we just change the mother board.

open the case and take a look at MB at first
It will only take you 10 minutes to identify if the USB slots have been damaged.
As somebody suggested, what you can try:
1. check device manager ---USB device if there is a yellow mark
2. if yes, reinstall USB driver but normaly it is included in MS ITB already
3. check CMOS settigns
Even it is HW related, it should be able to fix it by jump wire without replacing either SB or MB. Tell us your exact model, I might be able to figure out how much it needs to get thing done.

My pc is Samsung X05. There is one more thing, coz of the disabled usage of usb connections, i am using the touch pad for mouse now.And I found that the pad gets really hot after a short while. So is it an indication that it is indeed a prob to do with HW?
