楼主可否把节目表也列出来,即使还不是最后敲定的。

Since the last fall and winter, all local arts groups have done their performances. When we investigated, we were told that no new performances could be put together in such a short period of time. That is why we looked elsewhere.

Now, quality issues aside, we did ask all local groups to come to the committee meetings, but only one group came. It is not that we did not try, but internal and external factors made it inoperable to showcase local groups. So getting the Toronto group was out of necessity, not by choice. The local plan was our plan A, and the out-of-town plan was plan B.

Are you speaking on behalf of any local arts groups? Or you are just upset that you won't see any local groups? Have you seen all of the local groups? Do you want to see them again? Or you just want to see Dashan doing the show with local groups? Would you come join the committee if you are so passionate about this? Your are cordially invited! Answer these questions, hopefully, you will feel less upset.

We welcome constructive and factual criticism. On the committee website http://www.funcrystals.com/dashan/ you will find all of the documents related to the work done by the committee. Read them then you may find your criticism more to the point.

Also, please do me a favour. Since you seem to know my real identity, please reveal yours too. Otherwise, it is a little unfair don't you think? All that shooting at people in the dark, and shooting in the back?

Please do come to see the show. If you find the quality of any of the performances lower than a comparable local piece, I will personally give you back the same amount of money you spend on the ticket. Come on, let's do it! You seem to be a courageous and righteous person. Why not do it? If you lose, you can just make an equal amount of donation to the Glebe Centre. It will be so much fun for everyone!!! Come on!

哪买票啊?

黄兴中 990-6796 的电话是中华会馆的,答了就留言,他每天都到那上班吗?

The number your dialed (990-6796) is his NRC (National Research Council) office number. Please leave your message anyway, with your name and phone number. He WILL call you back! He seems to have all the $20 tickets. Alternatively, you may go to Centrepointe directly. The down side of that is the tickets there are not as front and centre.

Would you be interested in taking some $35 tickets? or $45? There are still some $125 tickets left, but not many. For the $125 ones you get to enjoy Ogilvie Mandarin Dim Sum with Dashan, the Mayor, the ambassador, and many other interesting people. The Prime Minister, the Governor General, and many others ministers are invited. They may just show up since the whole thing will be very nice.

For the $125 VIP tickets, please call Mdm Cathy Bowles at 580-2424, ext. 21521. She is the Chief of City Protocols. For a check at $125, you will receive a VIP invitation. You will feel very special, very much so indeed! And warm all over - all the same time enjoying a good evening that you won't forget for a long time!

We may sometimes wonder what the Canadian culture is. Here is an important opportunity to see how it feels like - with a very strong Chinese flavour. I think most people will feel very proud of it - no matter if you call yourself Canadian, or Chinese, or Chinese Canadian, or Canadian Chinese. :D

谢谢,谢谢。。。俺就是想买几张票送人,跟大山吃饭就免了吧,花125刀,俺还不如和cfc名人wuwei去吃呢,他只要100:D

please give a list of all performance names, the link/URL you gave doesn't give more information. It let us think the show is just DaShan do two performances.

Please see the "Canada China New", March 10 issue. The show programme has been published there. Please also see other newspapers in this weekend. More text and photo will appear. Yes, the programme will be put online soon.

Boomers beware
Published: Wednesday, March 08, 2006

The Glebe Centre's defunct life-lease project is a cautionary tale for anyone making decisions about their post-retirement housing.

There is no malice in the story of the centre and its efforts to provide housing for the seniors it serves. It's just an unfortunate reminder that real-estate ventures may not come with guarantees, so consumers have to protect themselves.

Changes to provincial regulations in 1998 forced the Glebe Centre to move long-term-care residents out of the tall building called the "tower." The not-for-profit corporation planned to turn the tower into a kind of apartment building called Holmwood in the Glebe, in which people over 55 would buy life leases.

The centre was unable to secure the financing it needed from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Commission. So the plan fell through a year and a half ago, taking the money of 49 seniors with it.

The seniors had paid two sets of deposits: one covering 15 per cent of the unit's cost, and another covering 25 per cent. The centre was able to pay back the 25-per-cent deposits, but not the 15-per-cent ones.

A health-care corporation is buying the building, and reportedly plans to turn it into a retirement centre. Once the deal goes through, the Glebe Centre should be able to repay the seniors in full, perhaps even with interest.

The sooner, the better. These seniors put down tens of thousands of dollars to secure homes for themselves. The delayed repayment means some of the seniors may be unable to make choices about their futures, and may even be suffering financially.

As the baby boomers retire, increasing numbers of Canadians will be looking for downsized housing, close to amenities and transit. People are living longer and remaining independent for decades after retirement.

Ottawa needs more developments in the urban area that can accommodate independent seniors. Such developments give seniors private spaces of their own, plus access to health care, social activities and communal areas. These buildings are often links in a system that allow residents to move easily into long-term care.

If the Holmwood building becomes a retirement centre, it will fill some of the need for seniors' housing in Ottawa. That's the silver lining, but it doesn't change the fact that 49 people have endured a lot of uncertainty, frustration and expense.

Assuming the housing market keeps pace with demographics, there will be many new seniors' developments in the coming years. Developers must resist the urge to work without a net.

Meanwhile, baby boomers who find themselves back in the housing market will have to read all the fine print. Foresight and communication provide the best consumer protection.

?The Ottawa Citizen 2006

The article is talking about the period before long-term care - something that is completely different from long-term care. The proceeds from the Dashan show will only be donated for the long-term care - the care for those who are unable to live independently by themselves.

The standards for long-term care are set by the province of Ontario. Regardless of the fee structure, the long-term care facilities cannot refuse a senior because he or she cannot pay (too poor). The shortfall of the facilities are coverred by the city, province, and charitable donations.

http://www.ottawa.ccac-ont.ca/clientcentre-longterm.html

All charitable organizations are under strict finacial scrutiny. The finacial support designated to long-term care cannot be used for any other initiatives.

Having said the above, I hope the Holmwood project will recover, so those pre-long-term care people can get their money's worth. Whatever money we raise cannot be used to "rescue" that project.

So boomers beware, and everyone here please post and read with care.

Please see TTCEN for more news on the show, including interviews with the Mayor and others.

The TTCEN site does not show correctly on this site, even it is typed correctly on this page. I suspect it is blocked by the CFC administration.

Please visit TTCEN site and look for dashanyiyang on the front page.
