1. 必须到正规琴行或正规生产企业的销售门市购买。
2.选择规模较大、产品质量和服务质量较好的知名企业的产品。
3.产品标识应完整、齐全。有商标及规格型号、说明书、合格证、检验员、出厂日期、保修卡，以及生产企业名称、地址等。
4.钢琴音色很重要。首先中音区要好，要连贯一致; 次低音区音色要纯正、洪亮，有穿透性，震撼力强，有钟鸣的效果；两端的音是考核钢琴的设计水平，设计水平越高，两端的音色越好。
5.外观。整体结构和组成外壳的各块板未变形，且方正、平直；外观油漆平整、光亮，边角油漆没有白线和油漆不均现象。
6.键盘平整、缝隙均匀，琴键负荷不可太重，以免造成小孩手指的损伤。
7.钢琴应具备耐候性强的特点。消费者尽量不要购买地域差异大的钢琴，以减少因环境而造成的木材、呢毡变形。
8.钢琴是相对价格较昂贵的耐用消费品，但无论是劣质钢琴还是优质钢琴，刚出厂时从外表到音质和手感都不会有明显的差别（对非专业人员来说），但在一、两年后就会有明显的差别，严重的会出现琴键变形、松动，弹奏困难；音质、手感变差；击弦机零件松动，杂音不断出现；弦轴松动，需要经常调音；音板开裂等现象。

我的体会是如果你下决心让孩子练，那就要买钢琴最好买YAMAHA 旧得都没有关系，因钢琴是保值的。选择好老师，你自己先看好，然后请老师把一下关。千万不能买电子琴，好老师不愿意教用电子琴学钢琴的孩子，钢琴的功能电子琴没有，耽误了孩子还砸了老师的牌子。

But 4 years old's fingers might not be strong enough to use real piano. I took first piano lesson at 3 years old, and at that time, the teacher put me to an electric piano (with weighed keys). In Japan where Yamaha piano were made, teachers also put younger kids to eletric piano.
Try to find a friend who plays piano to compare lastest Roland and Yamaha hammer action digital piano with a upright less than 5000. My experience is the digital one out-perform any of up-right less than 5000 and cost at 2000 dollars. The key touch is a little heavy and deep than most up-right and at grand piano level. Because of the hammer action, the touch feeling is the same. Digital piano also has advantage over any acoustic piano of using headphone. You can play silently at 12:00PM without annoy anyone.
Kliu is right.A 4 years old finger is not strong enough and also not big enough. You should at least able to put 1st finger at C and 5th at G to play most songs. A weighed key keyboard is way to go at first year. It is smaller than the real one.

I did not. I have a Yamaha digital piano and like it. I did check few new and used piano, I found at around 5000 a few years old U1 could be good buy than many new piano including C109. I tested a used U1 at Bank stree and I like it.I guess it already be sold long time ago. You do have to look to find a used one. You can leave your name to the store they may able to find one for you.
