My friends organized a FIFA World Cup pool that would start with the 'Round of 16' and go the Finals on July 9.

Here is how it would work:
**************************
1. You must pick the winner of the 'Round of 16' games.
(The link of Round of 16 is here: http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/bracket.html)

2. You then have to use those 8 teams you have picked to win in the next round, and so on to the finals.

3. You get 3 points for each correct pick in the 'Round of 16", 5 points for each correct pick in the quarter-finals, 10 point for each correct pick in the semi-finals, and 15 points for picking the winner of the final game. As a tie-breaker you must pick the win score of the final game. (In addition, the time of the first goal of the final game could also be used as the second indicator for the tie-breaker)

4. All picks would have to be submitted prior to 9:30am Saturday, June 24, 2006 (before the first game of round of 16 starts).

Cost to enter would be $10.00 per entry - yes, you can enter more than one entry in the pool if you like.

The winner of the pool will get 60% of the total pool, second place will get 25%, and third place will get 15%.

If the total pool is $150.00 the prize break-down would be:

First - $90.00
Second - $37.50
Third - $22.50
********************************************
Here are the winners I picked for the round of 16:
Germany, Argentina, England, Portugal, Italy, Brazil, Spain, and ? (the last one could not be decided until tonight, but I would pick Korea if they are qualified today).

The Quarter Final winners: Argentina, England, Brazil and ? (I need to see the results of today's matches for the last one).

The semi-final winners: Argentina and Brazil

The final: Brazil beats Argentina by 3:1, and the first goal would be in around 18 minutes of the first half. :)

I think we can set up a FIFA pool with 100 CFC money per entry here by putting down your prediction of the final results before Tomorrow 9:00 am (any post with a modification after 9:00 am June 24 will be disqualified automatically, i.e. you can not change your pick-ups after the deadline). We can first donate our CFC money into a trust account (I recommend Riven), and we also need a referee to update results timely, and announce the pool winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd places) at the final. Who is willing to take the referee job?

Let us have fun and see who has the highest marks. Go Brazil go!

He He, the top 5 of my 8 picks are into the quarter finals:Germany, Argentina, England, Portugal, and Italy. 62.5% of accuracy so far, not bad. Crossing figures for the other 3. I had made a last minute change to replace England with Portugal for Quarter final winner at 23 June. However, considering two Portugal players with red cards, and 9 with yellow cards now, it seems that I made a bad move in this regard. Anyway, my final bet depends on Brazil.

Here are my teams into the quarter finals: Germany, Argentina, England, Portugal, Italy, Brazil. 6 out of 8, Currently, I am in the common third place with other 7 participants. The pool has 18 participants. The first place guy got all 8 teams correct (an IT guy :)), 24 marks. The second place is a girl (also an IT girl), who picked Ghana over Brazil. There are 7 in the common top three, 7 in the common top 10, and 2 in the bottom 17 (total 18 participants). Poor Switzerland and Spain let me down. I could not believe three Switzeland players were missing all three kicks after gaining an early advantage when Shevchenko went first and Zuberbuehler saved. The interesting thing is that woman tennis star Hingis said "I think even I can kick the ball into the net at the shoot-out", which was exact what I said to my friends. It seems these Switzerland players were too nervous to kick to the ball. In the pool, only one guy picked up France over Spain, who is the first place now. I could not wait until Friday to watch the quarter finals.

Thank you 小傻 for showing your interest. So far, no one has shown the interest for the CFC pool yet. I am happy to join a quarter final pool. It should be the same rule just after the round of 16. You need to pick up 4 winners for quarter finals (5 marks for each correct selection), and continue to pick up 2 out of the 4 for the final (10 marks each), the Champion (15 marks), the scores of final game (count whose total scores close to the actual total scores) as the first tie-breaker, and the time of the first goal as the second tie-breaker.

My picks are: Brazil, England (sorry for dropping off Portugal), Italy and Argentina for semi-finals; Brazil vs Argentina for the final; Brazil win by 3:1 against Argentina, and the first goal at the 6 minute of the first half.

If you guys trust me, send me 100 CFC money to enter the pool, and I will update the standing of participants daily. If not, you select a trust account, and I will send my 100 CFC to the account. Anyone can be a judge for the final winner. Do we want only one winner, or 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places according to the total marks? Be quick, Thur. mid-night should be the deadline.

You also need to pick the final scores for the final game, and the timing of the first goal in the final game in case your total marks tie with someone else.

看来在CFC上球是赌不成了

看来CFC上的赌徒不是只对赌真钱感兴趣,就是嫌100 CFCMoney太少。没人响应。俺是忒穷了。连灌水都是业余水平的。:D:
