Eight Killed, 22 Wounded in Lebanon

Eight IDF soldiers were killed and 22 additional soldiers wounded today (Wednesday) during an operation in the city of Binat Jbeil in southern Lebanon. The eight killed included three officers and five soldiers. Of the 22 other casualties, three were wounded severely, four moderately, and 15 lightly. Their families have been notified.
Heavy losses after encountering Hezbollah terrorists
During the operation to seek out and strike infrastructure of the Hezbollah terror organization this morning IDF forces came upon a group of Hezbollah terrorists and heavy fighting ensued, resulting in the losses and casualties. Fighting in the area is still ongoing at this time.
Extraction under fire
The wounded soldiers were extracted during the fighting, under fire, to receive medical treatment at hospitals. \"The evacuation was in very difficult conditions, at grave risk to the lives of the pilots under fire and mortar bombardment by Hezbollah, and in very difficult field conditions,\" said GOC Northern Command, Major General Udi Adam.
GOC Northern Command: \"Fighters are showing restraint, valor, courage, and professionalism.\"
During the fighting IDF forces killed or wounded a large number of terrorists, and thus succeeded in striking at the area\'s terror infrastructure. \"The fighters are showing restraint, valor, courage, and professionalism. They succeeded in striking the terrorists,\" said Major General Adam.
