今天晚上突然发现地下室的地毯上有好多水。大约有一半的地毯是湿的。有谁知道是怎么回事？大约十天以前我打开了backyard的水管。我的house inspector说是那根水管坏了。先谢谢大家了。

The water is from either the crack in basement wall, or from basement floor (If the underground water level is high in your community, it can enter to basement floor). In your case, I would like to check crack in wall first. It is difficult if the basement is finished.

Check the water pipe too. They may be a leak somewhere.
