What is "enhanced security clearance"?

What is "enhanced security clearance"? As I know, there are four levels of security screening: reliability, confidential, secret, top secret.

Also, are individuals allowed to apply directly (vs. through agent, employer)??

"enhanced security clearance" is "reliability"

Yo need a agent or employer to apply it for you.
To qulify this, normall you need to be a Canadian citizen and have been in Canada for 5 years.

Well, I just cleared my security clearance last week.

You must be sponsored by an employer, and regulation is also set by employer.
Different employer has differnt rules.

Some need 5 years residency, some don't

这个5年的规定似乎是02年以后才生效的。之前是两年
