要是简单地说 我们象狗，那肯定不行，不过看看上下文，似乎除了这句话还没有什么其他的，甚至其它的话，还充满敬意和佩服。

估计说漏嘴了，其实简单地说明一下，简单地道歉就行了，不道歉不明智。

I sounds not as bad as the subject line suggests - 侮辱亞裔.

"Work like a dog" is an English idiom and it means they work very hard, I believe.

Could someone who knows English and English culture well enough comment on this?

那么正确的翻译应该是：
“這些東方人工作十分努力。為了工作，他們嘔心瀝血，不停的（地）工作，連睡覺都在機器旁邊。這就是他們成功的原因。我去過韓國的首爾，中國的台北，日本的東京。這就是為什麼這些人如此賣力工作的原因。我現在告訴你們，這些東方人，他們會慢慢地取代(我們)。”

那位先生，也没有必要道歉了。

The mayor would need to go back to an English language school, I guess. Kidding.

Well, one has to understand the language and culture as well as to put it into the context. I could see nothing offensive in his remarks except "work like dogs".
