If China is "democratic" by Western standards today, I think it's the Tibetan exiles that will suffer media bombardment, and no one will question whether China is "forcing" their unity upon Tibet, much like how most Americans think that all Indians are living happily in the US and do not wish for their land and way of life back - which is probably true.
Give Tibet another 2 or 3 generations, and you will see more and more young Tibetans thinking that uniting themselves with China is to their best interest, in that case, "force" becomes "voluntary" doesn't it?
