Two years ago, I went back to China with $5000.00 CND. I remember that I didn't do anything. As long as you keep your money safe, I think that you don't need to report it because there is no one to ask you about it when I leave for China.In addition, I think that you bring your $5000USD to China and then you exchange it to Chinese money. The exchange rate in China is better than here.
