ottawasun.com - Ottawa and Region - Possible break in OC Transpo strike
An emergency city council meeting is expected to be called for this evening to deal with a potential break in the six-week-old OC Transpo strike.
In a memo to city councillors, Mayor Larry O'Brien advised a meeting will be called as soon as his officials have had time to study a new position put forth by the striking Amalgamated Transit Union. At a press conference earlier today, the union said it was willing to go back to work within days if certain conditons are met.
"Although I believe this is a positive development and a direct result of our unified stand yesterday, it would be wrong to speculate in any fashion in the media until after we (have been) briefed on the facts by staff," O'Brien writes. O'Brien says city officials await written documentation of the union's position.
