小肥羊的壽命!

btw, 我听到的老外的评论
第一老外嫌自己涮太麻烦了
第二,有老外认为汤底太简单了,他们自己也会做。。。

Well, here are the improvements need to make.

2) Waiters need to be more professional, just get everybody to go to Yangtze and you see how waiters act there. When you are not busy serving customers, you need to stand and watch over the tables, not to sit down and chat with customers or play computer games at the cash register.

All in all, it's a great business concept, but the management lack of experience in running restaurant.

Well, here are the improvements need to make.
1) Although the Chinese are the main source of customers, but we are in Ottawa where 98% of the people are non Chinese, focuses should be on how to show and teach local Canadians how to eat hot pot. A picture book with how to eat hot pot should be placed on all the tables. I found most Canadians are humiliated when they are there and they will certainly not come back or recommend anybody to come. That's not how you become successful in Ottawa, we are not Toronto, and for any business to success you need local support.

2) Waiters need to be more professional, just get everybody to go to Yangtze and you see how waiters act there. When you are not busy serving customers, you need to stand and watch over the tables, not to sit down and chat with customers or play computer games at the cash register.

3) Washroom need to be cleaned every 20 mins and supply need to be filled. I found the washroom to be messy and short in supplies.

All in all, it's a great business concept, but the management lack of experience in running restaurant.

扬子江的服务质量差,渥太华差不多众所皆知了,你让小肥羊的服务员去学那些几句英语都说不好的广东老女人?

难道是王婆卖瓜,自卖自夸么...

Er... They're reputed to have good service when the customers are Canadian.

They do, without a doubt, know how to manage a restaurant in Ottawa. It's not about server the Chinese community or any particular group, it's about being able to attract the general public.

I'm not vouching for them, but the previous poster does have an excellent point.

then just let them server their Canadian masters.
hope their Canadian masters will support them forever, lol.

I really don't see your point here.

That's exactly what they do, and that's exactly why they survived as long as they did, and still very profitting.

ya they are survived and profitting, but just for now.

I haven't been in Ottawa for that long, but they were there 10 years ago, and doing well back then.

Someone confirm how long they'd survived already?

There are culture differences when it comes to how to serve and how to behave in a restaurant between Chinese and Canadian.

1)In Chinese restaurants when you need a waiter you wave you hand and they will come and ask what you need, in Canadian restaurant it’s the waiter who should come and attend your table and ask if you need help, to wave your hand and get the waiter to come would consider a rude gesture. Maybe that’s why some people feel they are not getting served well in Yangtze, there are certain expectations you expect from the servers and there are certain expectation you expect from your customers. Customer is never God, who ever said customer is God that’s just bull shit.

2)In Chinese restaurant it’s more about the food, in Canadian restaurant it’s more about the experience. Maybe that why Chinese are not as picky when it comes to bad decorations and dirty washrooms, hey as long as the food is good who cares about anything else?

3)I know there are people here who are not happy with the service in Yangtze, but their waiter certainly speak good English, and they are attentive, when they are not serving, they are checking all the tables and standing there. There are always greeting when you come in and there are always greetings when you leave. If you need help you make eye contact and they will come and ask if you need help.

I am in no way related to Yangtze and there are certainly more than just Yangtze offer good services.

Here’s a list of restaurants you can check out for some fine dinning experiences

Al's Steakhouse Elgin St.

Luxe Bistro

Maison Maxime Restaurant

Friday's Roast Beef House & Piano Parlour

I’m only listing the restaurants that I been to before.

what are you talking about. costumers are god under circustances, and those circumstances includes when you are being called over. waving your hand is quite a normal gesture and infact you see it alot and canadians DO do these gestures.
from my experiences. it's not really bad decoration. i don't really see what do you mean by "bad" decorations for one. and the bathrooms are relatively clean compared to say oh gee i dont know, somewhere like yangtze?. Good service is not measured by them walking around. Good service is when the waiter/waitress doesnt give you attitude no matter where you are from aka none racist. Good service is when you tell the waiter/waitress what to do for you instead of him/her telling you what she can do for you. They are quite attentive for such a busy shop if you've been there. Besides, it's a hotpot/buffet. buffets are like that. the waiter/waitress walk around to bring you water, take the used plates away at most. if you think that they should somehow understand you telepathicly, that's fine also. just to tell you though.. go back to mars.

agree the points
but Yangtze does sucks when it comes to mandarin speaker customer, that why I have only been there once in 5 years...

Yangtze?

they speak proper English (ya ,compared with their friends.)

and they got a VERY clean washroom, just a little bit worse than garbage bins outside.

and their servers are very professional , u just need to yell at them when they r patrolling around . then u will get help.

oh , u could also wave ur fist , instead of wave ur hand.
