A toddler has died after he was struck by a water truck on the Keeseekoose First Nation, police said Monday.
The RCMP from Kamsack said they were still investigating the accident, which occurred around mid-morning on May 6.
According to police, the 17-month-old boy was playing in the driveway and front yard of a home on the reserve, about 270 kilometres northeast of Regina.
A large water truck was backing up and struck the child. Police said the boy was taken to hospital in the nearby community of Kamsack, but was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The truck was being driven by a 30-year-old woman from Keeseekoose.
Police said no decision had been made about the possibility of laying charges and did not release the name of the child.
