A stretch of Sheppard Ave. E. has been shut down after a child was struck by a vehicle and the driver is being taken to hospital after the child's father allegedly assaulted him.

Emergency crews were called to Sheppard Ave. E. in Scarborough just after the noon hour after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in front of Agincourt Mall, just west of Kennedy Rd.As officers arrived at the scene, they apparently had to break up a fight between the child's father and the vehicle's driver.

The child is in serious condition and has been taken to the Hospital for Sick Children.

The driver was also taken to a Scarborough hospital to be treated for minor injuries he received during the melee.

A traffic services unit has taken over the investigation.

The westbound lanes of Sheppard Ave. E. near the mall are closed, including the entrances to the mall parking lot.

A five-year-old boy is in serious condition at Sick Kids hospital after being hit by a car.
In a twist, the driver of the car is also in hospital, after being allegedly attacked by the injured boy's father.

Emergency crews were called to an accident near Agincourt Mall near Sheppard Avenue just west of Kennedy Road.

When they arrived at about 12 p.m., they apparently had to break up a fight between the child's dad and the driver.

A stretch of Sheppard Avenue was shut down for several hours while police investigated.

另据Toronto当地媒体报道：事故司机为华裔，伤者的父亲先与肇事司机争执，随后双方发生肢体冲突；

救护车接报赶到现场之后，将受伤华裔司机送医院治疗，但相信伤势并不严重。

据悉警方暂未指控华裔司机或男童的父亲。

也有报道说，怀疑被撞男童与其父亲没有使用行人过路设施。

【1】行人过马路，要走人行横道，但是过之前和过程中，还是要左右观察，以免被车辆碰撞；

【2】孩子家长，也要与孩子保持合适距离（最好是一个胳膊的距离），以便随时保护孩子；

【3】司机过人行横道Crosswalk前，一定要先观察，避让行人Yield to Pedestrain；

【4】孩子家长平时，一定要加强对孩子交通安全的教育，不能仅仅教育孩子“要注意交通安全”，而应该 “详细地告诉孩子如何做，才能安全”；

【5】事故一旦不可避免地已经发生，肇事司机不要慌张，如果发现事故受害方情绪极其不稳定、暴怒，一定要注意自我保护，可以考虑：紧锁车门，呆在车内；
