Sorry I cann't print Chinese in my office. Anyway I feel his English is still a problem. I only care if he can study smoothly in the high school and go to woterloo when he graduated. Is there any friend knows that how much is the possibility for the students entering a good university with a wanted major. Like he likes math and computer.
The program is offered as a two-credit hight school course. Each registered student is provided an IBM laptop and each project group has an XO computer during the study term. Every Tuesday the students have a trip to a big company/university, such as IBM, RIM, Nortel, Carleton U, Algonquin College, and so on. They learn not only programming but also hardware architecture through tearing down and assembling back an XO computer and a RIM blackberry. The course project is to program an educational game for XO computer (http://laptop.org/en/laptop/). A professional programmer is assigned as mentor to assist students in their study. At the end of the term, they are judged by the games they programmed. And the first place winner will be awarded an IBM laptop. The students are transported by yellow school bus and pretty much all lunches are offered free on Tuesday.
Earl of March invited parents once to IBM. The lesson was given in an IBM training department classroom. The instructor is an IBM staff trainer and there are three Carleton U senior students as TA. Considering that they are just high school kids, they even have such a wonderful learning opportunity. They are really VERY VERY lucky compared with our high school time. It is an amazing program and I strongly recommend it.
