it depends on the humidity in your house, especially in your basement.

Buy a humidity meter at WalMark, CT, Home Depot, etc. About a few to ten dollars each.

If the humidity is higher than 60, it may need use a humidifier; if it is higher than 70 or more, you need a humidifier.

Honeywell, 40 pint/day capacity. $199+tax. Bought a year ago at Home Hardware. It works excellently. Put it in the basement. Set to 60. Everyday generates lots of water, about 10 liters per day.
