从经济上性价比考虑主要看租车的价格和相关租赁条款，因为有些价格是限制公里数的。另外还要看实际情况。一般我到条件恶劣的地方肯定会租车，避免回来后的维护，而且万一出事故不用自己太麻烦。如果路况较好的我也会考虑开自己的车，一是熟悉，二是感觉比较舒服。比如我在国内的时候，去西藏和新疆，由于泥石流比较多，我都是租车，但去阿拉斯加和因纽维特由于不用离开道路，我会开自己的车（冬天除外）。

从cost/km来说，租车可能是合算，特别是远距离的旅行。

前两个星期到美国去溜达了一圈，11天4500km左右。租车才花了415。那是1KM不到1毛钱，我觉得比开自己的车合算。

Please don't forget to put the age of your car into consideration.

If you car is relatively new (under two-three years), then rent it. The reason is the more mileages (more tear and wear) you put into your new car, the less resale value of your car will be.

And if it is old (make sure it is reliable and trustworhy though as 几千公里 is a lot of milegues), then you might as well use it.

Alamo和Budget是两家可以把车开到美国而且没有公里数限制的公司。不过，不是所有的车都如此。例如Budget的Minivan开到那里，每天都有200km的限制。
