I will try that tomorrow. GM dealer did not find any wrong code except for one fuse blown. But the problem is still there.
Battery is still fine, 12.6V while car is off and 15 V while car is on.

Thank you. I disconnected the negative end for about five minutes. It seems the old problem is gone (at least tonight). However, my audio system is LOCKED. Do you know how to unlock the audio system?

I did not have the problem with my audio system after disconnecting the battery. If you the security code, try the following first or have a trip to the dealer:

YEAH!!! I did it -- the radio is now unlocked and working fine.
Here is the secret to share with other people -- For GM cars, get the six digit number from your radio system. Then call the following 800 number. Chose the number matching your car (1 for Chevy). Enter the car number + 06010 + *. This automated telephone will tell you the code nuber (4 digits for my car). Enter that 3 or 4 digit code into your radio system. Now you are ready to rock......
