Ontario's Top 20 Worst Roads

Ontario’s road users have voted and named their Top 20 worst roads in the Ontario’s Worst Roads Campaign. This year’s campaign included a call for politicians to make a greater investment in road and bridge improvements.

Just under ten thousand Ontarians visited CAA stores, CAA Car Care Centres, Approved Auto Repair Service® facilities, and the web site to cast their ballot and send their message to their elected officials.

安省最差道路排名出炉

加拿大汽车协会(Canadian Automobile Association)和安省筑路商协会(Ontario Road Builders Association)周四公布了安省最差道路排名，Steeles Avenue在5年来第三次当选安省最差道路，而且名单中几乎一半道路在多伦多。

两协会称，今年参加投票人数创下历史新高，有近1万名驾驶员投票选出了他们社区中最希望获得维修的道路、高速公路和桥梁。

安省筑路商协会执行理事Rob Bradford表示不合标准的道路和桥梁会破坏车辆，增加家庭和企业的支出。“适当的维修也就意味着更少人受伤或死亡、减少环境危害、提高经济竞争力、降低纳税人支出。”

The Canadian Automobile Association and Ontario Road Builders' Association released their annual worst roads list Thursday.

And who says the rest of the province doesn't care about Toronto? For the first time, nearly half of the top 20 treacherous thoroughfares were in the Greater Toronto Area.

Pothole-plagued Steeles Avenue got the most votes; other perennial favourites included the continually-under-construction St. Clair Avenue and lunar-surfaced Dufferin Street.

Almost 10,000 disgruntled motorists submitted picks for the worst offenders.

"This is the highest number of votes we've ever seen in the seven years of this campaign," Faye Lyons, external relations specialist for CAA South Central Ontario, said.

At least one of the streets is set to get its pockmarks smoothed by a $15-million federally-supported facelift — funding for a Steeles Avenue resurfacing was announced in September.
