You wanna be a librarian? That's great! Librarians do so much more than just read and shelve books!
Here are the basics one needs to do:
"First, you need to get a Bachelor's Degree (you already have got one.). What kind of librarian do you want to be? If you want to work in a public library, I would say go for English, History,Political Science- any of the liberal arts. If you want to be a LAW Librarian, I would say major in Political Science. If you are interested in being a Science Librarian, major in any of the sciences. If you are interested in being a Medical Librarian, again study the sciences.
If Children's Librarianship interests you, again I suggest the liberal arts.
Then, once you get your BA or BS degree, go on to library school for a Master's degree in library science. You will need to take some "core" classes like Reference and Cataloging. Then, you can take classes in your 'areas' of interests."
Note that librarians here should not be seen as those in China. They are next to faculty members at universities (and they are well-paid.).
