Ottawa Citizen — T&T Supermarket, which was among some 40 businesses fined for opening before noon on Remembrance Day , says it will donate all profits it made on the morning of Nov. 11 to the Royal Canadian Legion's Poppy Fund.
"T&T would like to apologize for opening our store the morning of Remembrance Day. Being new to Ottawa, we did not realize a different bylaw existed from our stores in Toronto, Ontario which there is no change in operating hours. We meant no disrespect to our nation’s heroes," Tina Lee, director of strategy and operations for T&T, said in a statement.

The damage control is perfect

classic negative marketing case。。。

what's the big deal .....? Every store does that on boxing day. Pay fines and do business. Does bestbuy or home depot donate their boxing day profits ? I don't think so....

Free ad here too :D.

TNT's hot air has been depleted lately and they are too cheap to buy ad here, so someone need to take up the slack.

loyela, boxing day opening bans had been lifted for at least a few years (10?) now. No fines.

I would not be surprised if it was those Chinatown merchants who reported T&T to the city about their opening in the morning of November 11.

Keep sucking up to the White ass! :)

Fund.

ROTFLMAO.

You think those city inspectors are sleeping? I once saw a Disabled Parking violation ticket being written on a Sunday at the Costco parking lot.

By the way, the fines went to the city coffer, you are one of the beneficiary too, so go suck your white ass.

Read the news carefully - they responded to a complaint. City employees were driving around to see which stores were open that morning. All city by-laws are enforced on a complaint basis. Who has complainted, do you think?

Costco is a private car park (or what you call a parking lot in Canada and the US), and is monitored by the store.

All are not true. Please prove that the complainer is from Chinatown.

No, it doesn't matter if it is private or public parking lot, disabled parking spaces are set by the City, not Costo. Get your fact straight.
