build deck or patio?

we should plan to build patio, but see many handy guys building deck. so which way we should choose, building a deck or patio? How do you make decision on it?

I like to have some input.

want to change my title to: "build deck or patio? Show show your backyard!"

I prefer patio. Deck involves more maintenance work compared to patio. I find our neighbour's deck is a bit annoying as it is a few feet above the floor and it is adjacent to the fence, I feel I have no privacy. When they stand on the deck, they can see everything going on in my yard... But it depends on the size of your yard... Just some thoughts... Good luck on your decision-making!

1)If i mix them up, right now I don't have idea how to design them. any samples?
2) the cost will go up maybe.

Maintenance is good point. Except the wood stain, any ohter job we should consider?

2个圆圈的地方是patio靠近房子的是deck,还有一条interlock的路给邻居通过，还有一段空间不知道怎么利用。、绿色的地方准备来点花花草草
其实可以把左边的圆扩大一点，然后在右上角放一个凉藤。

完全同意！连着屋子的地方是deck，夏天的时候可以光着脚走出去而不至于被烫着。Patio在太阳下晒两个小时就很烫了。deck下面连patio有个过度。
