Sounds like visitor from china need a "国际驾照" issued by China to drive a car in Canada.

Is he going to drive your vehicle, or is he going to rent one, or is he going to buy his own?

My suggestion is, don't let him drive. I suggest this out of obvious reasons.

Whenever I visit relatives in China, I never attempt to drive (for the same reasons).

He has been driving in china in the past six years. I don't see any reason he cannot drive here after proper training. I will encourage him to get an official Canadian driver's licence.

Transportation's Customer Service Office这个问题。这是他们给我回信的原话，希望对你有帮助

"You may inform your father of the following:
If you are a visitor to Ontario and want to drive while you are here, you must be at least 16 years old and have a valid driver's licence from your own province, state or country. If you are from another country and visiting Ontario for more than three months, you need an International Driver's Permit from your own country or you may have to apply for an Ontario driver's licence, depending on your length of stay."

就我所知，目前中国还没有参加。所以国外的持国际驾照的，在中国不被承认，同样，持中国驾照的也不能申请国际驾照。

国内驾驶同国外驾驶，有很多不同点。他至少得熟悉了这里的交通规则，才好上路。

最明显的一点，是这里在任何情况下，都得让行人。不习惯这点，千万别让他开车上路。
