The City of Ottawa has eased the outdoor water ban in south-end Ottawa, allowing residents in Barrhaven, Riverside South and Manotick to use water one day a week for such tasks as watering the garden.
The city said residents affected by the ban may now use water outdoors on one of five days from Monday to Friday, based on five geographical zones the city has established.
On a designated watering day, residents will be able to water plants by hand, fill a kiddie pool or rain barrel, or clean a green bin.
Residents will still not be able to use water to wash their car, fill pools or hot tubs, watering with a sprinkler or driveway washing. Commercial use for car washes, for example, is still prohibited.
The outdoor water ban, imposed in April after a breakdown of the Woodroffe Avenue water main, is scheduled to end on July 15.
