Energy Star值不值

Energy Star是一套标准，NRC要求5方面。以下以minto的标准为例说明

1。 insulation upgrades
Exterior walls: R22
Basement exterior walls: R12 (insulation no more than 6” from floor)
Ceilings with attic: R50 insulation
R32 insulation in garage ceiling when there's a finished area above it

2。 higher-performance windows
Low e-argon windows

3。 better draft proofing
Main supply and exhaust ducts sealed

4。 more efficient heating, hot water and air conditioning systems
Direct vent furnace with 92% AFUE (annual fuel utilization efficiency)
Rental hot water tank with minimum of 0.82 EF (energy factor)

5。ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances (if supplied by the builder)

现在的新房，据我所知2，4都meet，5大家一般都自己买，所以重点就在1 和3

另外ENERGY STAR的房子密封性好，所以换气率低，一般都会装HRV改善室内空气质量

问题是，你将在那个房子住多少年？换句话说，投资多少年能收回来。

Patio - 不必须。
应该说整个house密封好点更好。但我个人倾向于还是不必太严实，比如energy star标准的房子，安装大功率的抽油烟机，都推荐安装空气吸入系统（make-up air systems）以保证室内不存在负压，所以那还不如就叫它四处都漏点风。

车库和车库门是不是升级，取决于你将来怎么使用车库。如果你想将用车库做workshop或安装家庭影院系统，肯定要升级。但如果只是做车库，不建议升级。

问题是，你将在那个房子住多少年？换句话说，投资多少年能收回来。

我希望这次搬家后，至少10年不用再折腾了，最好20年不挪。:blowzy:

除了成本，主要还想知道是不是舒服点？还是更不舒服？

要是能DOWNGRADE标准，我敢赌有不少人会选择不要ENGERY STAR，拿回来一两万块。

我看Tartan 好象是Tankless 的，不知Monarch 是哪种？

MM你比我美多了，别叫我美女啦，误导群众啊，叫我姐就行了。

Monarch虽然不达标，但Patio说他家车库上的房间比其他房间不冷反热，那说明密封得很不错了。

Monarch 的好像是带tank的。
这次新房我家准备买下来，不租了，会买tankless的。

越来越多builder把energy star作为标准了，Monarch在Toronto的房子也有提供Energy star 的小区。

Monarch Ottawa尽管提供各种matching的upgrade， 但是没有certificate！

I think Energy Star and R2000 is two different standards. It doesn't mean one is higher than another.

What I heard about problem with R2000 is the need of using the rigid foam insulation between an exterior and interior skin. It traps the moisture which may cause mold problem on the frame. That is why most builders are dropping the R2000 and using Energy Star standard instead.

我家有energy star的证书，那个跟R2000是不同的标准。
如果有energy star的证书可以从CMHC那边要回10%的rebate，如果你有CMHC insurance的话
